Book Launch: "Há Cem Anos – A República"
On March 11, at 5:30 PM, at the Manuel António da Mota Foundation, in Porto, the book "A Century Ago – The Republic", a tribute to the historian Vitorino Magalhães Godinho and published by CEPESE, will be presented to the public. This publication is part of the centenary celebrations of his birth, which took place in 2018.
In this book, Godinho offers a lucid reflection on the Republic in Portugal since its establishment in 1910, questioning its origins and providing an explanatory reading for the collapse of the First Republic (1910-1926), the evolution and dissolution of the Estado Novo (1926-1974), and the genesis of the Third Republic with the Military Revolution of 1974, examining the vicissitudes experienced by democracy in Portugal up to 2010.
The book will be presented by Professor David Justino, Dr. Maria Teresa Magalhães Godinho, and Professor Fernando de Sousa.
