Portuguese Emigration: Past and Present

The research project aims to continue the study of major international migrations that have occurred between Southern Europe and South America from the 19th century to the present day, with a particular focus on migrations between Portugal and Brazil.

The project aims to: strengthen REMESSAS, International Research Network for the Study of Migrations between Southern Europe and South America, established by CEPESE; produce new research on this topic, including articles in scientific journals, books, master's and doctoral theses, working papers, and presentations at seminars; expand the database on Portuguese emigrants to Brazil, including other regions of Portugal; organize international seminars on this issue to promote innovative studies, disseminate produced knowledge, and engage new researchers.
